Located in Lincoln and serving all of Nebraska since 1961, the Nebraska Safety Council’s mission is to provide education and leadership to empower people to live safe and healthy. Our passionate team of experts provides support and services to organizations of all sizes, across a wide range of industries throughout the state and surrounding areas. The Nebraska Safety Council’s comprehensive programs, training courses, events, and services are designed to improve employee care at a desk, on the production floor, behind the wheel, and off the job. Our unique Worker 360° approach provides integrated risk management that reduces health and injury-related costs, boosts worker engagement, and improves overall worker quality of life while positively impacting an organization’s bottom line.

Lisa Henning, Executive Director

Lisa Henning, Executive Director

Lisa has more than 27 years of experience in corporate wellness and prevention. Lisa previously led WorkWell for 22 years as she performed and managed various projects. Lisa left WorkWell in 2012 to lead the implementation of the 2-year $8.5M CDC National Healthy Worksite Program, a new comprehensive human risk improvement cost containment management program. Lisa has been awarded the Governor’s Excellence in Leadership Recognition by Governor Dave Heineman in 2012, Healthy Innovation Award Program Finalist by Centers for Disease Control in 2011, LiveHealthy Nebraska Star Award by Nebraska Sports Council in 2011, and Well City Lincoln Award in 2000.

Kyle Schachenmeyer, Director of Finance and I.T.

Kyle graduated from Doane University in Crete, NE with a degree in accounting and business administration. He was a four-year letter winner in baseball as a pitcher. Kyle had over eight years of experience in public accounting at two certified public accounting firms where he performed tax and audit services before joining the council. Kyle is a proud member of the Southeast Toasters, a public speaking and leadership development organization. In 2019, Kyle earned second place at the District 24 International Speech Contest.

Ric Voelker, Senior Trainer and Consultant

A recent addition to the Nebraska Safety Council in January 2017, Ric has been an adult instructor since 2004 and bring a vast amount of experience and knowledge from work in law enforcement. He has been focused in workplace safety since 2006, most recently with Reinke Manufacturing where they won numerous state and national safety awards. His enthusiasm to share his skills and expertise has made a big impression on those who work with him.

Nicole Osborne, WorkWell Services Manager

Nicole was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska and is an alumna of Nebraska Wesleyan University where she earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Health and Fitness Studies. Nicole worked as a Health Coach and Program Manager for the Center for Disease Control’s National Healthy Worksite Program in Saint Joseph, Missouri where she had the responsibility of developing wellness and organizational infrastructure programs for over 19 companies. Nicole is a certified Diabetes Prevention Educator and health coach using the mindfulness method. Nicole has her Masters in Health Promotion Management from Nebraska Methodist College and is recognized nationally for her expertise in promoting breastfeeding-friendly return to work policies and support for nursing mothers.

Valerie Haschke, Client Relations Manager

Valerie Haschke, Ace Certified Health Coach client relations manager, health coach Valerie joined our team in 2015 as the Workplace Staff Assistant, eventually moving into the Client Relations position, and most recently became an Ace Certified Health Coach. Valerie’s Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a Certificate of Gerontology helps with her success building relationships with our members. Her passion lies with wellness and helping others with lifestyle changes. She herself lives by example on a daily basis and focuses much of her personal time on exercise and good nutrition choices.

Barb Prochaska, Supervisor of Traffic Safety

Barb oversees all traffic safety programs across the state. She keeps the Teen Driver Education, Motorcycle Beginner Rider, STOP, Alive at 25, and ADD courses running year round!

Lauren Turner, Marketing Manager

Lauren originally joined the team in 2016 in the Client Relations role, moving to the Marketing Manager position in 2018. She has been working in the world of marketing since 2014, and is passionate about using creative skills to help pursue our mission. Lauren holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. When she's not working, she enjoys being outdoors, kayaking, camping, and hiking during warmer months and skiiing/snowboarding in the winter.

Courtney Smith, Wellness Specialist

Courtney is a Certified Health Education Specialist and ACE Certified Health Coach with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and Health from Iowa State University. Her passion for prevention has drawn her to look at all factors involved in a person’s well-being from healthy lifestyle choices to safe work practices. She grew up working for her father’s construction company and has been working in the industry ever since. Her desire to help people grow has made an impact on those who work with her.

Saige Walker, Office Support Assistant

Saige joined the team in 2019 and is the face you see at the front desk. She started as a part-time Office Support Assistant, quickly proving to be a key staff member and moving full-time. She is often the first person you'll hear when you call in to our offices. She moved to Lincoln in 2019 from Alliance, NE and enjoys spending time with her family.
