Title: Promoting Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety in Lincoln

Description: This breakout session will focus on the activities in the City of Lincoln that help promote and support active transportation in Lincoln, including bicycle and pedestrian travel. This includes annual participation with bike to work week activities, tabling events, bicycle friendly community designation and support to bicycle friendly businesses, and resources on the Bike Lincoln page. In addition, this session will cover traffic safety efforts and the Safe Streets Lincoln project, a Vision Zero planning effort launching in Spring 2024 to help meet a goal of zero traffic deaths and reduced serious crashes for all modes on Lincoln’s streets.

Stephanie_Rouse_HEADSHOT.jpgBio: Stephanie Rouse is a transportation planner for the City of Lincoln-Lancaster County focusing on active modes including bicyclist, pedestrians, and transit riders. She is responsible for the citywide trail count program, the Complete Streets Committee, and implementation of the transportation goals of the Climate Action Plan. She has a Master’s Degree in Community and Regional Planning from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln with a Bachelor’s of Science in Architecture.

Roberto_Partida_HEADSHOT.jpgBio: Roberto Partida is a Transportation Planner with the City of Lincoln, Nebraska. He works for Lincoln Transportation and Utilities in the Traffic Engineering Division. He has a Master's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Minnesota, where his studies focused on community development and transportation planning. In his current role, he is focused on multi-modal transportation planning efforts and overseeing the City's shared micro-mobility programs. Some of his primary duties include implementation of multi-modal projects, assisting with Lincoln's Safe Routes to School Program, educational efforts around bicycle and pedestrian safety, and advocating for multi-modal projects that promote safe, connected, and accessible infrastructure for vulnerable road users.
